Abstract

Cash Waqf, a contemporary adaptation of the traditional Islamic endowment system, has emerged as a powerful instrument for fostering economic development and social welfare in Muslim societies. This study examines the potential of Cash Waqf to enhance welfare economics in Bangladesh by drawing insights from successful models in Turkiye, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Using a qualitative research approach, the study analyzes how effective implementation of Cash Waqf—through strong institutional frameworks, supportive legal systems, and transparent governance—can contribute to equitable wealth distribution, poverty alleviation, reduced government expenditure, and overall economic resilience. The findings highlight the need for innovative strategies and institutional reforms to adapt Cash Waqf practices effectively within the Bangladeshi context, ultimately recommending a sustainable model that integrates Islamic financial principles with contemporary development goals.
